From Brian's Automotive & Performance

We got tired of typing invoices. So we built Paper Wrangler.

Feed your vendor invoices into a scanner. A minute later every part is in Shopmonkey, on the right repair order, and you throw the paper away. We built it for our own shop in Puyallup — it saves us about 15 hours a month.

How this started

It wasn't a business idea. It was a chore we couldn't stand.

For years, the worst part of running the shop had nothing to do with cars. It was the stack of invoices by the register — every part we ordered, typed into Shopmonkey by hand.

We added it up once: about fifteen hours a month, gone to data entry. And one fat-fingered cost could quietly wreck the numbers on a job we thought we'd priced right.

So we built a tool to do the typing for us.

Now we run the stack through a scanner. A minute later it's all in Shopmonkey, on the right repair orders, and the paper goes in the trash. Anything it's unsure about waits for us to check — it never guesses.

We've trusted it with our own books long enough to share it. We call it Paper Wrangler.

What Paper Wrangler actually does

The work it takes off your counter.

Reads the whole invoice - Vendor, part numbers, quantities and costs — and splits invoices that were scanned together.
Posts to the right repair order - Finds the job each part belongs to and adds it in Shopmonkey, without anyone typing.
Leaves out the junk - No core charges posted as parts, no invoices that aren't yours, no returns landing as negative parts.
Flags the rest for you - Anything it's unsure about waits for a quick look. It never guesses.

How it fits into your day

Scan the stack. Toss the paper. Get back to work.

1

Feed the scanner

Drop the whole pile of vendor invoices into your scanner in one pass.

2

Wait about a minute

Paper Wrangler reads them all and updates Shopmonkey — right parts, right repair orders.

3

Throw the paper away

It's all digital in your shop software now. Glance at the few it flagged, and you're done.

Nothing posts without you when it isn't sure. The rest is just handled.

Why an auto shop is selling software

Brian's Automotive & Performance is a real independent shop in Puyallup, Washington — 20+ years of brakes, diagnostics, transmissions and engine swaps at honest prices. We're mechanics, not a software company.

We build tools to make our own shop run better. When one saves us real time and money, like Paper Wrangler has, we offer it to other shops fighting the same paperwork. It was tested the only way we trust: on our own counter, against our own books.
